Dougherty, Harris Leave MoS

Variety reports that Superman Returns screenwriters Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris are not returning for the sequel.

They also report that Brandon will be returning to don the red cape. Stay tuned for more news as they become available.

Film Updates

The title of the Benny Goodman/Gene Krupa biopic is Hot Men according to getready4la.com.

Although nothing's official, Brandon appears to be playing another comic book character: Dylan Dog. The film, Dead of Night, will be directed by David R. Ellis. The film is set to shoot in Connecticut.

Ryder and Rourke Join "Informers"

Hollywood Reporter reports that Winona Ryder and Mickey Rourke have joined Thornton, Basinger, and Routh in The Informers.

The drama, which tells seven separate stories, follows a week in the lives of a group of morally challenged characters -- a movie executive, his wife, his mistress, a rock star, a vampire and a kidnapper. It is set in 1980s Los Angeles.

Iowa's Homecoming 2007

Brandon will be University of Iowa's honored guest for Homecoming 2007 on the 28th. Brandon and other marshals will be featured in a parade that Friday in downtown Iowa City.

Brandon in "The Informers"

Hollywood Reporter reports that Brandon Routh has joined an ensemble drama starring Billy Bob Thornton and Kim Basinger called The Informers.

Set in 1980s Los Angeles, the script follows seven stories taking course during a week in the life of a movie executive, his wife, his mistress, a rock star, a vampire and a kidnapper. Thornton will play the movie exec, and Basinger will portray his wife. Routh has been cast as the vampire, while Olsen is a sexually promiscuous girl.

Brandon the Drummer

The New York Post interviewed Kevin Connolly (HBO's Entourage) who revealed that he and Brandon are doing a film about the first interracial band in the '30s.

I'm going to do a movie, I'm acting in it. I'm playing Benny Goodman in a movie…It's the story of him and Gene Krupa…Brandon Routh, Superman [is playing Gene]. …It's about the first interracial band in the thirties. With Teddy Wilson and Lionel Hampton and you know these guys came and they just blew them away…[They are played by] Nick Cannon and Ludacris.

Update: Brandon is currently taking drum lessons in preparation for the role of Gene Krupa.
