Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) and Chinese star Zhang Yuqi (White Deer Plain) will feature in a new 3D sci-fi action adventure helmed by Last Flight director Vincent Zhou.
Arclight Films has worldwide rights on Lost in the Pacific outside of China, and it announced the project at a joint press conference with United Exhibitor Partners in Beverly Hills, attended by Routh, Zhou and Zhang.
"With complex character relationships, dark, mysterious creatures all in groundbreaking 3D with top-of-the-line visual effects and a celebrated team both in front of and behind the camera, the film has all the makings of a worldwide box office hit," said Arclight's Ying Ye, who is also an executive producer on the film, in a statement.
The movie tells of a group of elite passengers on board 2020's inaugural luxury, transoceanic flight.
Lost in the Pacific begins shooting in the spring of 2015 at Malaysia's Pinewood Studios, and is scheduled for release toward the end of 2015.
Lost in the Pacific's VFX supervisor will be Bruce Jones, who did The Italian Job and Star Trek, with Ian Bailie (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice) and Scott Winig as director of photography.
The visual effects team will work at Stareast Digital Lab and with Hollywood VFX outfit Venture 3D, which has worked Titanic 3D and The Chronicles of Narnia.
v Director Zhou promised an adventure of "monumental proportions to audiences all over the world that will keep them on the edge of their seats until the very end, and even after they leave the theater."
